§ 52485 Treated Seed Sales Ban

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't sell or use treated seeds or grains if they have poisonous stuff on them.
  • •The poisonous stuff must be within the allowed limit set by the state or federal government.
  • •This rule is to keep people and animals safe from getting sick.

Example

A farmer treats his corn seeds with a chemical to keep bugs away. He wants to sell some of these seeds to his neighbor to feed his cows.

The farmer can only sell the seeds if the chemical used is within the allowed limit. If the chemical is too strong or not allowed, selling the seeds is against the law because it could make the cows sick.
