§ 40572 Committee Member Terms

Key Takeaways

  • •Committee members serve for 3 years.
  • •At first, some members serve 1, 2, or 3 years so not everyone leaves at the same time.
  • •After that, all new members serve the full 3 years.
  • •If someone leaves early, a new person is chosen to finish their time.

Example

Imagine a school club with 9 members. At first, 3 kids leave after 1 year, 3 after 2 years, and 3 after 3 years. This way, the club always has experienced members.

The rule makes sure the committee doesn’t lose all its members at once. New members join at different times to keep things running smoothly.
