§ 39353 Margarine Labeling Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •You can only have margarine or dairy spreads if they are labeled correctly.
  • •You can have these products for yourself or your family to eat, even if the label is wrong.
  • •If you have these products to sell or give away, the label must follow the rules.

Example

You buy a tub of margarine from the store to use at home.

It's okay if the label is wrong because you're using it for your family. But if you buy it to sell at your small shop, the label must be correct.
