§ 27552 Fee Adjustment Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The fees mentioned in Section 27551 are the highest possible fees that can be charged.
  • •If the money collected from these fees is more than needed to run and enforce the rules, the secretary can lower the fees.
  • •The extra money should only be kept as a backup fund for running and enforcing the rules.

Example

Imagine you pay a fee every year to keep your car registered. The government collects this fee from everyone.

If the government collects more money than they need to run the DMV and fix roads, they can decide to lower the fee next year. They can keep some extra money saved up just in case, but they shouldn't keep too much.
