§ 27531 Shell Egg Marketing Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can make rules about how eggs are prepared and sold to make sure they are good quality.
  • •These rules can include how eggs are graded, packed, labeled, and even how they are advertised.
  • •If eggs don’t meet the rules, there are ways to handle them so bad eggs don’t get sold.
  • •People who sell eggs might have to register and pay fees to follow these rules.

Example

A farmer sells eggs at a local market.

The farmer must follow rules like making sure the eggs are a certain size and quality, packed in the right boxes, and labeled correctly. If the eggs are too small or cracked, they can’t be sold as good eggs. The farmer might also need to register with the government and pay a fee to sell eggs.
