§ 25402 Poultry Meat Classification

Key Takeaways

  • •Poultry meat is divided into groups called 'classes' based on how it looks and how much it weighs.
  • •These classes help decide what the meat can be used for, like cooking or selling.
  • •The way meat is grouped helps people know if it's good for things like frying, baking, or making soup.

Example

You go to the store to buy chicken. Some chicken is labeled for frying, and some is labeled for making soup.

The store groups the chicken based on how it looks and how heavy it is. This helps you pick the right chicken for what you want to cook.
