§ 25063 Fee Deposit And Use Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Money collected from fees goes into a special fund for the Department of Food and Agriculture.
  • •The money can only be used for things that directly help the people who paid the fees, like checks and rules for their work.
  • •Fees can't be too high—they must match the real cost of doing the checks, giving out licenses, and making sure rules are followed.

Example

A farmer pays a fee to get a license to sell eggs at the market.

The money from the fee goes into a special fund. It can only be used for things like checking the farmer’s eggs are safe or giving them the license. The fee can’t be more than what it actually costs to do these things.
