§ 21053 Cattle Transport Inspection Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •Cattle don't need to be checked before moving if they're going straight to a feedlot, slaughterhouse, or salesyard in the state.
  • •If cattle are moved without being checked first, they must be checked when they arrive at their destination.
  • •This rule only applies if the cattle are coming from a place where inspections are usually done.

Example

A farmer is sending his cattle to a nearby slaughterhouse to be processed.

The farmer doesn't need to get the cattle inspected before moving them because they are going straight to a licensed slaughterhouse. But when the cattle arrive at the slaughterhouse, they will be inspected there.
