§ 20252 Attorney General Civil Penalties

Key Takeaways

  • •The Attorney General can take action if someone breaks the rules in this part of the law.
  • •They can start a case if someone complains or if they find out about a problem themselves.
  • •If they think the rules were broken, they can ask a court to punish the person who broke them.

Example

A company is dumping harmful chemicals into a river, breaking environmental rules.

If someone tells the Attorney General or they find out about it, they can check the facts. If they believe the company is really breaking the rules, they can take them to court to make them pay a fine.
