§ 19012 Livestock Inspection Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you run a place that sells meat or meat products, you must have them checked for safety.
  • •A special inspector must check both the meat and the place where it's made or sold to make sure everything is clean.
  • •This rule is for any business that handles meat, like butcher shops or meat packing places.

Example

You own a butcher shop that sells beef and pork.

Before you can sell any meat, a special meat inspector must check that the meat is safe to eat and that your shop is clean. If you don’t do this, you’re breaking the law.
