§ 14978 Board Designates Administering Entities

The law lets a board choose groups to run certain rules each year, and the director makes sure the rules are enforced.

Key Takeaways

  • •The board can name one or more groups to administer the chapter before Jan 15 for the fiscal year starting July 1.
  • •Those groups must follow the director's regulations and procedures.
  • •The director is still in charge of enforcing the chapter.

Example

A state agency wants to collect fees from drivers, so the board picks a company to handle the collection for the next fiscal year, and the director checks that the company follows the rules.

The board can name the company before Jan 15 to run the fee program from July to June, and the director makes sure the company follows the enforcement procedures set by the law.
