§ 14290 Livestock Drug Registration Components

• •You must register the drug itself and everything that makes it up.
• •The label that tells what's inside and how to use it must be approved.
• •The written instructions for the farmer have to be registered too.
• •If a special tool (like a special syringe) is needed, that tool also has to be registered.

A farmer wants to use a new medicine to treat a cough in his herd of cattle.

Before the medicine can be sold, the company must register the medicine, list every ingredient, approve the label that goes on the bottle, approve the directions for the farmer, and also register the special syringe that might be needed to give the medicine to the cows.
