§ 10987 License Denial Or Revocation

The director can say no, take away, or pause a license if, after a hearing, they find the place is dirty and could spread a disease, isn’t set up right, or the owner broke a rule from the director.

Key Takeaways

  • •The director can refuse, suspend, or revoke a license after a hearing.
  • •Dirty or unsanitary conditions that could spread vesicular exanthema are a reason to deny a license.
  • •If the place isn’t properly equipped or maintained, the license can be denied or taken away.
  • •Breaking a lawful order from the director also leads to denial, suspension, or revocation.

Example

A new dog grooming shop wants a license, but the inspector sees the floors are filthy and there’s a risk of spreading a contagious skin disease among the dogs.

Because the shop isn’t clean enough to stop the disease, the director can refuse to give the license or even shut it down until it’s cleaned up.
