§ 9213 Municipal Initiative Reporting Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Every two years, local officials must send a report to the state by April 1 in odd-numbered years.
  • •The report counts how many local petitions failed to get on the ballot in the last two years.
  • •The report also counts how many local petitions made it to the ballot and whether voters said yes or no to them.
  • •The report includes how many of these petitions had special reports made about them.

Example

In 2023, a city had 5 petitions that didn’t make it to the ballot, 2 that voters approved, and 1 that voters rejected.

The city must include these numbers in their report to the state by April 1, 2023, and say how many of these had extra reports.
