§ 9013 Petition Signature Verification Space

Key Takeaways

  • •Every page of a petition must have a 1-inch blank space at the top.
  • •After each person's name on the petition, leave a blank space for the official to check it.
  • •This rule helps the county make sure the petition is real and follows the rules.

Example

You want to start a petition to add a new playground in your neighborhood.

When you make the petition, you must leave a 1-inch blank space at the top of every page. Also, after each person signs their name, leave some space so the county can check if the signatures are real. If you don’t do this, the petition might not count.
