§ 2115 Voter Name Change Reregistration

Key Takeaways

  • •If you change your last name (like after getting married), you must register to vote again with your new name.
  • •When you reregister, you have to tell them your old last name too.
  • •Your voter registration gets updated right away after you do this.

Example

Sarah gets married and changes her last name from 'Smith' to 'Johnson'.

Sarah must sign up to vote again with her new name, 'Johnson', and tell them her old name was 'Smith'. This way, her voter info stays correct.
