Key Takeaways

  • •Regular board members have to be registered voters and can only serve in their own precinct.
  • •A precinct can appoint up to five students who are at least 16, U.S. citizens or permanent residents, in good standing at school, and have at least a 2.5 GPA; they cannot tally votes.
  • •A precinct can also appoint up to five permanent‑resident non‑citizens; they cannot be inspectors or count votes.

Example

The student can help the board under the supervision of the regular members, but they are not allowed to count any votes.
