§ 11103 Petition Section Filing Authorization

• •Only the petition starters or someone they write a permission for can file petition sections.
• •The permission must be in writing.
• •A copy of the written permission must be given to the elections official each time a filing is made.

A neighborhood group wants to collect signatures for a new park. One member can't go to the elections office, so they write a note giving a friend permission to file that part of the petition.

The friend files the petition section and also sends the written permission note to the elections official, just as the law requires.
