§ 81432 Board Property Sale Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The board must all agree (every single member) before they can sell, trade, or rent out something big.
  • •They have to tell everyone by putting an ad in the local newspaper for three weeks in a row before they do it.
  • •If there’s no local newspaper, they use the biggest newspaper in the area.

Example

A school board wants to sell an old school building to make a new park.

All board members must vote 'yes' together. Then, they have to put an ad in the local paper for three weeks before selling it. If they don’t do this, the sale isn’t allowed.
