§ 79210 Nursing Specialty Training Grants

Key Takeaways

  • •This law gives money to community colleges to train nurses in special areas like emergency care or baby care.
  • •Colleges must show there aren't enough trained nurses in their area to get the money.
  • •Hospitals must help by giving money, equipment, or other support equal to the grant amount.
  • •The Chancellor's office checks that the colleges and hospitals are working together properly.

Example

A community college wants to start a program to train nurses for the emergency room.

The college applies for a grant to create this program. They show that local hospitals need more emergency room nurses. A hospital agrees to help by paying for students' tuition. The Chancellor's office checks that the hospital is really helping as promised.
