§ 79030 Community College Holiday Classes

• •Community colleges can change their schedule if the weather is really bad, like too hot or too cold.
• •They can have classes on holidays, but not on Christmas (Dec 25), New Year’s Day (Jan 1), Independence Day (July 4), or Thanksgiving.
• •If they have class on a holiday, they must do something special to celebrate or remember that day.

A community college in a very hot area wants to start classes later in the year to avoid the worst heat.

The college can decide to have classes on Labor Day to make up for starting late. But they have to do something in class to talk about Labor Day, like a short lesson or activity about it.
