§ 72690 Community College Auxiliary Records

The Legislature finds and declares all of the following: (a) Access to information concerning the conduct of the people’s business is a necessary and fundamental right of every person in this state. (b) The auxiliary organizations of a governing board of a community college district and of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges promote and assist the colleges by engaging in activities that are essential and integral to the mission and purpose of the California Community Colleges. (c) The auxiliary organizations of a governing board of a community college district and of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges are legally separate from the California Community Colleges. (d) Access to records used, owned, or maintained by these auxiliary organizations must be balanced by the need to protect the individual privacy rights of donors and volunteers, and to protect an auxiliary organization’s fiduciary interests. (Added by Stats. 2011, Ch. 247, Sec. 1. (SB 8) Effective January 1, 2012.)
