§ 71090 Chancellor Appointment And Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The board picks a boss called the Chancellor for California Community Colleges and decides how much they get paid.
  • •The Chancellor does whatever jobs the board gives them.
  • •The board can give some of its powers to the Chancellor or others, but they have to say exactly what those powers are.

Example

The board wants someone to handle all the community colleges in California.

They pick a Chancellor to be in charge and tell them what to do. If the board has a job to do, like making a new rule, they can tell the Chancellor to do it instead, but they have to say exactly what the Chancellor can and can't do.
