§ 54485 School District Grant Allocations

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools get money from the state as grants—they don’t have to add their own money to get it.
  • •The amount of money each school gets is based on the average teacher salary in the whole state.
  • •The state uses a simple rule: they look at how much teachers make on average and use that to decide how much money to give.

Example

Imagine your local school gets extra money from the state to help kids who need more support.

The state doesn’t say, 'You have to pay some money too.' They just give the school the full amount based on how much teachers usually get paid across the state.
