§ 51935 Hiv Prevention Training Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools must train teachers and staff about HIV prevention, working together with other schools or experts.
  • •Teachers who already know a lot about HIV or have been trained before don’t have to do the training again if they don’t want to.
  • •The training should happen regularly to keep everyone updated on new HIV science.
  • •Schools can also add training about general sexual health if they want.

Example

A school wants to teach students about HIV and how to stay safe.

The school must train its teachers first, working with other schools or health experts. If a teacher already took a good training, they can skip it. The school can also teach about other health topics, like how to stay healthy in relationships.
