§ 51926 Inclusive Education Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •School lessons and materials must be fair and work for all kids, no matter their race, gender, disability, or if they're learning English.
  • •Kids with disabilities must get special help, like different books or tools, so they can learn too.
  • •Lessons can't make fun of or leave out any group of people.
  • •Schools should work with counselors or mental health helpers on campus so kids can get help fast if they need it.

Example

A school has a history book that only talks about one group of people and doesn't include others.

This book would break the rule because it leaves out some kids' backgrounds and isn't fair to everyone.
