§ 48662 Community Day School Transfers

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools can send kids to a special school called a community day school if they break big rules.
  • •Kids can be sent there if they get expelled, are on probation, or if a school group decides it’s the best place for them.
  • •Kids who get expelled for bringing a weapon to school go to the front of the line for these special schools.
  • •The school must have clear rules about how and why a kid can be sent to a community day school.

Example

A student brings a knife to school and gets expelled.

Because the student brought a weapon, the school can send them to a community day school first, before other kids who broke different rules.
