§ 48269 School Attendance Bond Suspension

Key Takeaways

  • •If a kid skips school a lot, the court can punish the parents.
  • •Parents can avoid punishment by paying $200 and promising the kid will go to school every day.
  • •The $200 goes to the school district if the kid skips school again.
  • •The money from the bond goes to the county if the parents break the promise.

Example

A kid misses too many days of school without a good reason.

The court tells the parents they have to pay a fine. But if the parents pay $200 and promise the kid will go to school every day, the court won’t punish them. If the kid skips school again, the school district gets the $200.
