§ 46303 Attendance Fraction Rounding Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If you calculate average daily attendance and get a fraction less than 0.5, round down to the nearest whole number. If the fraction is 0.5 or more, round up.
  • •If the calculation gives you less than 1, it still counts as 1.
  • •When a law mentions a whole number for attendance, it includes any fraction less than 0.5 above that number.

Example

A school calculates its average daily attendance for funding.

If the school's average daily attendance is 15.3, it rounds down to 15. If it's 15.6, it rounds up to 16. If it's 0.8, it counts as 1.
