§ 41935 Junior High Attendance Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Kids in 7th and 8th grade who go to a junior high school run by a high school district are still considered to be attending their local elementary school district.
  • •This rule helps figure out which school district is responsible for these students.
  • •It’s about making sure the right district gets credit (and money) for these kids being in school.

Example

A 7th grader lives in an elementary school district but goes to a junior high school run by a high school district.

Even though the kid goes to a junior high school, the law says they are still counted as attending their local elementary school district. This helps with school funding and records.
