§ 35750 School District Formation Standards

• •The State Board of Education makes rules for creating or changing school districts.
• •They decide if a plan to make a new school district or change an old one is good enough.
• •If the plan doesn’t meet their rules, they can say no.

A group of parents wants to split their big school district into two smaller ones.

The parents have to send a plan to the State Board of Education. The board checks if the plan follows their rules. If the plan is weak, like not having enough schools or teachers, the board can reject it.
