§ 35722 County School Reorganization Process

Key Takeaways

  • •After public hearings, a county group can decide to change how schools are organized.
  • •They can send their plan to the state board for approval or order an election if rules are followed.
  • •If the county group approves changes without a state hearing, people can appeal to the state board.

Example

A group of parents wants to merge two small school districts into one bigger one.

The county committee holds meetings to hear what people think. If they agree to the merge, they send the plan to the state. If the state rules are met, the change can happen right away or go to a vote. If someone disagrees, they can ask the state to review the decision.
