§ 26602 Employer Contribution Credits

Key Takeaways

  • •When your boss puts money into your retirement account, that money belongs to you.
  • •Any extra money that grows from your boss's contributions (like interest) also belongs to you.
  • •This rule makes sure your boss can't take back the money they put in for your retirement.

Example

Your boss puts $100 every month into your retirement account. Over time, that money grows to $150 because of interest.

The $100 your boss put in and the extra $50 from interest all belong to you. Your boss can't take it back.
