§ 23100 Employee Retirement Contribution Payout

Key Takeaways

  • •When you quit or lose your job, you can get back the money you put into your retirement fund.
  • •You also get back any extra money you added for an annuity (a type of retirement pay).
  • •If you have a special account called a 'Defined Benefit Supplement,' you get that money too.
  • •The money you get includes extra interest, but if you already got retirement or disability pay, that amount is taken out.

Example

If you worked for a company for 10 years and then quit, you can ask for all the money you saved in your retirement fund during that time.

The company will give you back your savings plus any extra interest, but if they already paid you some retirement money, that part will be subtracted.
