§ 21147 Trustee Act Veto Authority

• •If someone in charge wants to stop or change a decision made by a group of trustees, they have to do it within 30 days.
• •They must write down their decision to stop or change it and give it to the trustees or their leader.
• •This has to be done in person or by leaving the written notice at the trustees' office.

Imagine a school board (the trustees) decides to build a new playground. The mayor doesn’t like the idea and wants to stop it.

The mayor has 30 days to write a note saying he vetoes the playground plan. He must give this note to the school board or their leader. If he waits longer than 30 days, he can’t stop it anymore.
