§ 19975 Bond Payment Appropriation

Key Takeaways

  • •The state sets aside money to pay back bonds (like loans) for special projects.
  • •This money covers both the original loan amount and the extra cost (interest).
  • •The money is always available, no matter the time of year.
  • •This rule was added in 1988 when people voted for it.

Example

Imagine the state borrows money to build a new school.

The state must keep enough money ready to pay back the loan and any extra fees, just like you’d save money to pay back a loan for a new bike.
