§ 19965 Project Funding Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •Once your project gets approved and money is given, you can't ask for more money later.
  • •If your project costs less than the money you got, you have to give back the extra money.
  • •If your project costs more than the money you got, you have to pay the extra yourself.

Example

You get $10,000 from the state to build a new library shelf.

If you finish the shelf and only spend $8,000, you must give back the $2,000 you didn’t use. If the shelf ends up costing $12,000, you have to pay the extra $2,000 yourself—the state won’t give you more money.
