§ 19677 Museum Trust Fund Administration

Key Takeaways

  • •The museum board can accept gifts, money, or property given to the museum.
  • •The board must use these gifts to help the museum, not for anything else.
  • •If private money is given to support the museum, it must be kept in a special fund in the county treasury.
  • •The museum board controls and manages this special fund.

Example

A rich person leaves a bunch of old paintings to the museum in their will.

The museum board can take the paintings and either keep them or sell them to get money for the museum. If someone donates money, it goes into a special account controlled by the board to help pay for museum stuff.
