§ 17443 Lien Release Procedure

Key Takeaways

  • •If you owe money for a development lien, you can pay it off early to remove the lien.
  • •You have to pay the full amount you owe plus any extra fees the board decides.
  • •The board will write an official paper saying your property is free from the lien and record it.
  • •Once recorded, the lien is gone and you don’t owe anything more.

Example

You own a house with a $10,000 development lien, and you want to sell it.

You pay the $10,000 plus any extra fees to the board. They write a paper saying your house is free from the lien and record it. Now you can sell your house without owing anything.
