§ 17353 Architect Or Engineer Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Only licensed architects or structural engineers can design and plan buildings.
  • •These same professionals must also watch over the building work to make sure it's done right.
  • •This rule is for buildings made in factories, like prefab homes.

Example

A company wants to build a new house in a factory, piece by piece, and then put it together on a lot.

The company must hire a licensed architect or structural engineer to draw up the plans and watch over the building process in the factory. If they don’t, they’re breaking the law.
