§ 17313 School Building Structural Inspection

Key Takeaways

  • •Parents or school leaders can ask the state to check if a school building is safe.
  • •The school must pay for the check, unless they can't afford it.
  • •The state might do the check for free if the school is too poor.

Example

A group of parents worry their kids' school might be unsafe because the walls are cracking.

If 10% of the parents sign a paper asking for it, the state will send someone to check the building. The school usually has to pay for this check, but if the school is really poor, the state might do it for free.
