§ 17192 Authority Revenue Pledge Validity

Key Takeaways

  • •If the authority promises money or payments to someone, that promise is strong and must be kept.
  • •The person who gets the promise doesn’t need to wait or do extra steps—they get the money right away.
  • •Even if others don’t know about the promise, it still counts and can’t be ignored.

Example

A city promises to pay a company for building a new park using money from parking tickets.

The company gets the money from parking tickets right away, even if the city doesn’t hand over the cash yet. No one else can take that money, even if they didn’t know about the deal.
