§ 17036 School Lease-Purchase Fund Use

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools can only use money from the county school lease-purchase fund if the board says it's okay.
  • •The money can be used for project costs or to pay back schools for things they already bought.
  • •If a school spent money before the project was approved, they might get paid back, but only if:
  • •The spending followed the project rules, happened less than 4 years ago, and wasn’t for building stuff.

Example

A school buys new computers for a classroom project.

If the school bought the computers less than 4 years ago and followed the project rules, the board might let them use the county fund to get their money back. But if they started building a new classroom without approval, they won’t get paid back for that.
