§ 16712 School District Competitive Bidding

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools must get the best deal when spending money on big projects.
  • •They have to ask different companies to bid (like a competition) before choosing one.
  • •This rule makes sure schools don’t waste money by picking the first or most expensive option.

Example

A school wants to buy new desks for all classrooms.

The school can’t just buy desks from one store. They have to ask many stores to offer their best price first, then pick the cheapest or best one.
