§ 15706 School Building Loan Funds

This law explains how money from the Public School Building Loan Fund can be given to school districts for buying land, buying furniture and equipment, and building or fixing school buildings.

Key Takeaways

  • •Money can be used for three things: buying approved school sites, buying approved furniture/equipment, and building or fixing school buildings that the State Dept of Education says are essential.
  • •All building projects are considered public works.
  • •If a contract requires the district to buy insurance for construction, that insurance cost can be paid from the same fund.

Example

A school district wants to replace old desks in its elementary school.

The district can use money from the loan fund to buy the new desks because the law says the fund can be used for purchasing desks, tables, chairs, and other fixed equipment.
