§ 11001 University Project Advisory Committee

This law says the CSU chancellor must set up a group of people to help pick which projects get money and decide how to judge them.

Key Takeaways

  • •The chancellor has to create an advisory committee for funding decisions.
  • •The committee must include specific members: teachers, curriculum staff, community‑college reps, CSU reps, UC reps, and a post‑secondary education commissioner appointee.
  • •Faculty members on the committee are chosen after talking with the faculty senate.

Example

A university wants to give a grant to a new science lab project and needs a fair way to choose the winner.

The advisory committee, made up of teachers, college reps, and other education officials, looks at all the proposals and decides which one meets the set criteria, then recommends the funding.
