§ 101121 School Facilities Funding Rules

This law says the money put into the 2016 State School Facilities Fund can be used to help schools and to pay back any loans or bonds that were taken from the fund.

Key Takeaways

  • •Money in the 2016 fund is meant for school districts, county superintendents, and county boards of education.
  • •The fund can be used to pay back any money that was loaned to it, plus interest.
  • •It also reimburses the General Obligation Bond Expense Revolving Fund for bond costs.

Example

A school district borrows money from the 2016 State School Facilities Fund to build a new classroom.

When the district repays the loan with interest, the fund uses its own money to cover that repayment and also to reimburse the state bond fund that helped pay for the loan.
