§ 8321 Corporate Annual Financial Reports

Key Takeaways

  • •Every year, a company must tell its members they can ask for a money report.
  • •If a member asks in writing, the company must send them the latest money report within 120 days after the company's fiscal year ends.
  • •The report must show how much money the company has, how much it made and spent, and where to find the list of members.
  • •Small companies that make less than $10,000 in a year don’t have to do this.

Example

You are a member of a local club that operates like a small company.

Every year, the club must tell you that you can ask for a report about their money. If you write to them asking for it, they have to send you the report showing how much money the club has, how much they made from membership fees, and how much they spent on events. If the club makes less than $10,000 in a year, they don’t have to send this report.
