§ 14007 Small Business Corporation Existence

This law says a special kind of company (a small business financial development corporation) starts when its paperwork is filed with the state and lasts forever unless the law says otherwise. If the company gets kicked out of all its programs, it has to change its name and paperwork to stop being this special kind of company.

Key Takeaways

  • •A small business financial development corporation starts when its paperwork is filed with the state and lasts forever unless the law changes.
  • •If the company gets kicked out of all its programs, it has to change its name and paperwork.
  • •After being kicked out, the company can't use the special name or get any special benefits anymore.

Example

A company called 'Sunshine Small Business Financial Development Corp' helps small businesses get loans. If the state decides this company isn't following the rules and kicks it out of all its programs, the company can't keep using its name or getting special benefits.

The company would have to change its name (like to 'Sunshine Nonprofit Corp') and update its paperwork to show it's no longer a special small business company. It also can't get any of the special perks anymore.
