§ 12507 Amending Nonprofit Articles

This law explains how to properly write down changes to a company's official rules. It gives three ways to show what's being changed.

Key Takeaways

  • •You can show changes by rewriting the whole rule, changing parts of it, or adding new rules.
  • •If the change affects current members, you must explain how.
  • •This is about how to write the changes, not what changes you can make.

Example

A small business wants to change its rules about who can be a member.

They can either rewrite the whole rule section, just change the part about membership, or add a new rule about membership. If the change affects current members, they must say how.
